Before we describe exactly what a teaser betting strategy is we need to cover the preliminary topic of a parlay bet for those who are unfamiliar with the term. Parlays are essentially accumulators in which the winnings from a successful wager on an event are bet on the outcome of a separate event. Parlays can cover just two or more events. The simplest form of parlay uses fixed odds, though there is also a points spread parlay.

Teaser betting strategy makes use of a modified points spread parlay and is particularly applicable to sports betting on football. The aim is to combine two or more selections, similar to parlay betting described above, and both selections must be correct in order to win. However the difference is that you can move the points spread line or modify the number of points added or removed in either direction for a specific game.

If one leg of a football parlay includes a match with a team having a 2 goal line with an over and an under of 2.5 and the gambler has a one point teaser, then the point line could be moved down one goal and the over an under would be moved to 1.5. If the result is a 2 goal win, then the original parlay bet would lose but the teaser would be a winner. What you are actually doing is teasing the point spread.
Although your chances of winning with a teaser are higher, the downside is that the odds are reduced. A two leg parlay including the above example might pay out 13/5, but the teaser would pays out say only 10/11. Naturally an increased chance of winning equates to a lower payout when you do.
