The Cheltenham Festival is nearly upon us and with 4 race packed days there will be no shortage of betting options. As every day has a featured race including the Cheltenham Gold Cup on day 4, here are a few tips you might consider.

Starting with the Gold Cup, this won’t exactly be a two horse race but the clear ante-post favourite seems to be Long Run which was last year’s winner. However, Kauto star is back and looking very good. He beat Long Run in the King George VI Chase and his rider Ruby Walsh believes that he deserves to do the same in the Gold Cup. We believe that he is right – Kauto Star is our choice.

The featured race on Day 3, St Patricks Thursday, is the World Hurdle. This is the most important hurdle race of the season, and there will be a lot of money wagered on it. However we think that the smart money will be on the favourite Big Books. Although the odds are a little short to say the least, (best odds should be available at Betfair) this Paul Nichols trained hurdler is acclaimed as the greatest staying hurdler at the festival and definitely worth an investment.

Day 2 is Ladies Day and the feature is the Queen Mother Champion Chase Odds, however it is not as clear to pick a winner. There are a number of horses in very close contention and you might be best advised to go for a good priced outsider with promise. Kauto Stone is one such possibility. This is yet another Paul Nichols trained horse and is looking good. Back each way.

The opening featured race on Champion Day is the Champion Hurdle Challenge Trophy. The ante post favourite is Hurricane Fly who was last year’s winner but the horse has not had an outing this season and its difficult to assess his form. Nicky Henderson has three horses in the race and one of these, Binocular is looking good. This is our tip of the day.
